Companion Dimatteo announces Candidacy for General Grand Master!
I am a first generation Mason, having joined the Craft in 2010. When I joined the Lodge I was looking for other men to acquaint myself with - men who were upright, and had the same values as I have. I found those men in both my Craft Lodges and the York Rite. I was encouraged to take leadership roles both locally, at the state level and at the international level. Most recently I was appointed as the General Grand Steward of the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International as well as Chief of Staff of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar of the U.S.A. I am exceptionally active in each of the Bodies I belong to - there is no reason to belong if you can't be active!
I have a significant experience in leadership in my career. For the past 30 plus years, I devoted myself to the study of Leadership. Work was certainly the start of that study, but it was not the end. Learning how to step beyond my own comfort to meet the needs of the teams that I lead, I believe that LEADERSHIP and MANAGEMENT are very different things. One Leads people, one Manages teams, and if we get them backwards, that can cause devastating results. With such specialties as Strategic Planning, activating teams, setting a culture of excellence, I have learned the skills to enhance my leadership in the Masonic world.
I definitely wouldn't be anywhere without my family. I have been married to my lovely wife, Wendy, for 32 years. Living in Maple Grove, Minnesota, we have made a home with two daughters, Frani and Gabbi. Wendy is currently the Bethel Guardian of Bethel 48 in Anoka, and is Past Grand Guardian of the GGC of Minnesota. She has been a passionate early childhood educator since graduating College. Frani is a past Miss Minnesota Job's Daughters and Majority member. She is currently a cosmetologist and is planning her wedding to Bailey in December, 2025. Gabbi is past Supreme Bethel Honored Queen and Majority Member, and is in school where she is pursuing her Master's degree in Special Education and Human Resources.
A member of the Bones Brothers Masonic Association, we practice Benevolence, Brotherhood and BBQ. As one of the most active fundraising teams in the state, we raise money for Masonic as well as non-Masonic Causes. With such charities as Equine Therapy, Battered Women's Shelters, Food Shelves and our Masonic Charities, the summer months are always busy. Previously, I was a member of our Site Council planning committee for our School, and participated in coaching for Community Softball Teams.
